Environmental stainless steel solutions, unlike many metals and alloys, is ideal for products and components used for water treatment and control, and other environmental applications. Complying with guidelines and Codes of Practice
Like many environmental stainless steel solutions products and components, those made for use in water treatment have to comply with strict regulations. The Operational Guidelines and Codes of Practice for Stainless Steel Products in Drinking Water Supply set out a number of criteria that products need to comply with. This includes material selection and approval, fabrication, welding, and post-fabrication cleaning.
Regardless of the products or component, tanks and other storage vessels, pipework, penstocks, screens or compactors, all have to be fabricated with environmental-grade stainless steel and to meet the Codes of Practice.
Ensuring clean, corrosion-free stainless steel fabrications
Cleanliness is of high priority for products and components that are made for the environmental sector. All steps must be taken during the fabrication, assembly and finishing process to ensure that the stainless steel is kept clean, and free from contamination and corrosion.
Welding of the fabrication is also required to follow strict requirements such as the need to keep the weld zone free from oil, grease and other contaminants – as well as being free from excessive oxidisation.
Following fabrication and assembly, to ensure that the surface, as well as all welds and joints, are contamination free we can bead blast these areas to remove any corrosive particles.
